Second Best vs Second Last!!!

The fourth ODI between West Indies and South Africa involves something common between the two teams. That is the number two in the ICC ODI rankings.South Africa occupies the second position in the ICC ODI championship with Australia the only team to be at above. Thanks to the series victories against New Zealand,Pakistan and West Indies offlate. While,on the other hand,West Indies only above Bangladesh-when compared to only test playing nations(Ireland and Zimbabwe do not feature among test playing nations) occupies the second position when looked from the last.Only a consolation victory against the home team in the series against SA was a T20 victory in Port Elizabeth late last year.

South Africa have developed very well as a one day side consisting of players like Jacques Kallis,Greame Smith,A B DeVilliars,Gibbs,Steyn,Mark Boucher..The only worry is the retirement of Shaun Pollock whose shoes is yet to be filled at present. But,when the luck factor comes in,South Africa has had a very bad history.Since the B&H World Cup in 1992 at Australia and New Zealand,South Africans have been soft targets of bad luck.

Well-with most of the top players from the present Australian side missing out or are likely to do so after their days are being numbered,South Africa have a very good chance of taking the Aussie place..i.e the top position in ODIs.This was very much evident after their world record chase of 434 in 2006.

If this happens, there would be some relief for cricket fans all over the world who are sick of Australian dominance.

"GREAT GOING SOUTH AFRICA"
